Echmiadzin cathedral was built between 301 and 303.It was Gregory the Illuminator that laid the first stone of Cathedral of Etchmiadzin in 303 (by the way the name of Echmiadzin means “the descent of the only begotten”). According to legend, Gregory the Illuminator saw Jesus in his dream and showed the place of the monastery and that’s why this place is truly sacred. On the place Gregory the Illuminator built a small altar to keep the place of the descent of the Son of God sacred.
Sardarapat memorial museum (1968) symbolizes the historical importance that the battle of Sardarapat had in preserving Armenia and its ancient culture.
