Sevan lake Sevanavank, a prominent historic-architectural complex of the 9th century. Noratus is an ancient settlement with numerous monuments dating from the Bronze and Iron Ages. There is a theory that this was the fortress township of Gegharkunik built by Gegham Nahapet who named it 'Noratuns' meaning 'new homes'. In different periods of time this settlement served as an administrative center, seat of the ruling princes and other similar purposes.
